The King Philip Walpole Youth Hockey Association is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. KPWYH tuition is calculated to ensure the organization is able to cover all the real and projected costs of operating its programs. Tuition includes but may not be limited to: game ice, practice ice, skills and goaltending clinics, league fees, uniforms and equipment, awards, and administration.
Financial questions or requests must be made in writing to the Treasurer. Immediately upon receipt, such requests will be reviewed by the Treasurer and/or Finance Committee. The results of any review or investigation will be presented to the Board of Directors for resolution.
Any outstanding balance owed to KPWYH by a family must be paid in full before any child from that family may be registered in any KPWYH program. The KPWYH Treasurer is the sole arbiter of any and all amounts owed to the KPWYH Association.
*There is a MANDATORY, NON-REFUNDABLE $50 tryout fee per player, payable at the time of tryout registration.*
Players will not be permitted to participate in tryouts unless they have registered in advance and the tryout fee has been paid in full. Players who later decide not to participate in a KPWYH program WILL FORFEIT THEIR TRYOUT FEE. The tryout fee may not be applied toward a player’s registration/tuition or used for a sibling or another player.
Exception: Players unable to participate in tryouts because of approved medical reasons may request a refund or credit, to be given at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors. The Board may request a doctor’s note for verification.
*PLAYERS WILL NOT BE PLACED ON A TEAM UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN REGISTERED FOR THE 2021-2022 SEASON AND THE INITIAL DEPOSIT HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL.*
KPWYH does not issue invoices. Guardians are responsible for knowing the total amount due for their children and for ensuring payment(s) are made on time and in full. Please refer to the tuition table on the KPWYH website and in the Financial Contract for tuition charges and due dates by program. Payments may be made via credit card on the KPWYH website. At the time of registration, tuition may be paid in full or families may opt to participate in an installment plan, through which payments will automatically be charged in two or three installments, depending on the participant’s program, to a credit card on file. Tuition for Instructional and 18U Full Season Travel programs do not qualify for the installment plan and must be paid in full upon registration.
KPWYH recognizes the financial burden on families with multiple players and offers a family discount. The first player in a family pays full tuition, the second player receives $100 off full tuition, and subsequent players receive $200 off full tuition.
Exclusions: Family discount applies to players on full-season travel teams ONLY. This discount does not apply to players in the Instructional, 8U Development, Girls In-House, or 18U half season programs, nor do players in these programs count toward the family discount.
Goalies on full-season 10U, 12U, and 14U travel teams receive $300 off full tuition.
Exclusions: This discount does not apply to players participating in 8U travel or any other program.
*TUITION ASSISTANCE IS NOT AUTOMATIC NOR IS IT A RIGHT OF THE REQUESTING FAMILY; IT IS A PRIVILEGE GRANTED SOLELY AT THE DISCRIMINATION OF THE KPWYH BOARD AND IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABLE FUNDS.*
KPWYH understands the strain the sport of hockey might place on a family’s finances. A family experiencing financial hardship may request a reduction in tuition for their child/ren. All tuition assistance requests for the 2021-2022 season must be submitted in writing to the KPWYH Treasurer no later than July 31st, 2021. Assistance requests will not be accepted verbally or via a 3rd party. Any family requesting tuition assistance must provide ALL of the following items to the KPWYH Treasurer for consideration:
A brief letter of explanation for the request, describing the family situation
An estimate of the total tuition the family can afford and the total amount of assistance funds being requested
The following three documents to verify family income:
W2(s) for most recent tax year
Form 1040 for most recent tax year
The most recent 4 pay stubs for current job(s)
The Treasurer and the other members of the Finance Committee will review the request and determine the amount of any assistance to be granted. The Finance Committee will then make a recommendation to the KPWYH Board of Directors. In order to maintain confidentiality, tax/income documents will not be shared outside the Finance Committee. A majority vote by the Board will confirm the recommendation.
Note: Any family receiving tuition assistance will not be considered for assistance the following season.
*REGISTRATION AFTER TRYOUTS OR AFTER THE START OF THE SEASON WILL INCUR A $150 LATE FEE.*
The player will be evaluated by KPWYH coaches and will be placed on an appropriate team as determined by the Board of Directors. If the player joins the program prior to the start of the season, full tuition will be charged. Tuition for a player joining after the start of the season will be charged a prorated tuition based on the number of weeks remaining in the season, plus the cost of the uniform.
*DUE TO THE ADVANCE FINANCIAL COMMITMENTS NECESSARY TO SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMS, KPWYH IS UNABLE TO OFFER REFUNDS ON TUITION.*
